What happens to our waste after we throw it away? During this engaging Traveling Scientist program designed for after-school settings and Expanded Learning programs, students investigate the difference between organic and inorganic materials and discover how our disposal choices affect the environment. Through group sorting, interactive landfill and compost models, and hands-on stations, students explore recycling, composting, decomposition, and appropriate ways to dispose of different types of waste. Students reflect on how they can apply what they learn to reduce organic waste at home, at school, and in their communities.
