Wonders of Water: Waterville’s Runoff Challenge

Students become members of the fictional Waterville Water Agency as they investigate solutions for managing stormwater runoff. Through hands-on modeling, students evaluate potential solutions and consider environmental, engineering, and community tradeoffs. Using evidence from their investigation, they recommend a solution for managing runoff while exploring the types of decisions water professionals make to protect community water resources.
Partner-Funded Program
Waterville’s Runoff Challenge is offered at no cost to eligible schools, funded by the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) and the Family of Orange County Water Providers.
Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Teachers must submit a grant application to be considered for the program. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding or program availability.
