How do sensory structures help animals survive? During this engaging Traveling Scientist program, students investigate how animals use specialized sensory structures to detect and respond to their environment. Students meet live animal ambassadors, observe sensory adaptations, and explore how information from the environment is sent to the brain to produce behaviors or memories. Through hands-on observations, they discover how senses help animals find food, avoid predators, navigate their surroundings, and survive—and consider how human activities can affect animals’ ability to sense their environment.
