Scientists of the Sewers

Students investigate how everyday choices can impact wastewater systems and the environment. Through hands-on activities, students explore how wastewater is managed and treated, examine challenges facing sanitation systems, and consider actions individuals and communities can take to help protect Orange County’s water resources.
Partner-Funded Program
Scientists of the Sewers is offered at no cost to eligible Orange County schools through funding provided by the Orange County Sanitation District (OC San).
Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority scheduling and funding will be given to schools located in Cypress, Santa Ana, Newport Beach, and Buena Park. Teachers must submit a grant application to be considered for the program. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding or program availability.
